Uswitch has helped people switch their energy plan to save money on their bills for over 20 years. When the energy crisis hit, energy providers pulled their plans from the market, meaning Uswitch could no longer help users switch their energy plan.

Role
Energy plan switching is Uswitch main product. Since this was no longer possible, the product I worked in had to create a new product in order to help our users through this energy crisis and find a way to stay relevant to them so that when energy plans returned, we would be the comparison site they would use.
Users were no longer able to switch energy providers and were unsure what they should do.
The business was no longer able to generate a revenue from users switching their energy plan and was worried about loosing loyal users.

Background
No plans were available on site

Approach
Our main challenge was finding a way to help users with their new challenge and finding a way to keep in contact with them – this would help us stay front of mind for when energy plans were available through us again. To be able to do this, we created a new product from scratch to replace our existing one, which would help users understand the changes in the energy market and increase their return rate.
We focused on created giving clear explanations on their situation and a market view of energy plans only available through providers. The result was a product which helped our users navigate the energy crisis and allowed us to keep in contact with them.
